LEADER 3sam 2.0
We are now in our third EU program period in the Strömsund-Ragunda Leader area. This is a summary of what was implemented during the previous program period.
Leader 3sam operational project 2016-2023
Leader 3sam 2.0's operational project aimed to initiate locally led development according to the Leader method within Ragunda and Strömsund municipalities. The work was carried out in the form of mobilization efforts consisting of disseminating information about opportunities to apply for support for development projects that fit into the development strategy that has been developed for the area. The information efforts targeted the target groups that have opportunities to apply for support, associations, businesses, and public actors. The information efforts consisted of various types of advertising – advertising in local newspapers, advertising on social media, mailings to associations and businesses with the help of the municipalities' association and business registers, as well as invitations to meetings well spread throughout the area. The project also included training the LAG board in the tasks they faced, primarily the content of the strategy and the priority action areas, as well as performing effective leader work and the responsibilities that the role of LAG member entails.
Furthermore, the LAG board was trained in the handling of selection criteria in connection with assessments of project applications. A new challenge for the LAG was to work with several different funds. Here too, the LAG board had undergone training to familiarize themselves with the regulations that apply. The members of the LAG board were also engaged in the work of spreading information about opportunities to apply for support by being given the responsibility to contact associations and businesses in their local areas. The staff of the Leader office participated in training organized by the Swedish Board of Agriculture, as well as attending various networking meetings and other conferences that are significant for staying updated on what is happening and what is important for the development work in the area.
The operational leader and project coordinator were interested and sought help in connection with project applications and implementation of projects, also in connection with applications for payments. The daily administration in the form of mail handling and bookkeeping was managed by the leader staff. The Leader office also communicated the activities to other stakeholders such as financiers and the media.
The financiers, municipalities, and regions were informed with information regarding project applications and how they meet the criteria in the developed development strategy for the area. The media was kept informed about which projects had been granted support, as well as how they progressed. Assistance was provided to the beneficiaries to develop strategies for informing the media.
