Newsletter Dec 2024

Leader 3sam is looking for engaged associations in Strömsund and Ragunda municipalitythat are interested in micro support to build up their community preparedness! Submit your expression of interest no later than Monday, March 3 together with a motivation for why your association should get this chance! We have a limited number of micro supports. Email your expression of interest to linnea@3sam.eu. Call if you have any questions: 070 550 03 87.

What do you do when the storm rages and the power goes out? If the power is still out on day 2, day 3? We offer a micro support to ensure that you have the most basic needs to be prepared for various kinds of crises regarding e.g. heat, water, electricity, communication, first aid, cooking facilities, or training.

What does it mean? Together with your neighbors and association members, you identify possible crisis scenarios and investigate what you already have and what you would need to feel more secure and prepared. Through peer circles and study materials, you will gain tools to strengthen the community's crisis preparedness and increase safety for all. Thanks to the micro support, you will have the opportunity to purchase basic equipment for your gathering place. Needs vary in different locations, but we hope that the funds can help create a safe gathering place or service solution that many can benefit from. Not everyone needs to have/can do everything – together we are stronger!

Step 1 is to collect expressions of interest from associations that want to participate
Step 2 is to make a selection among the applications and prioritize those that will proceed
Step 3 will be to hold startup meetings with information on how the associations can proceed with the study materials available to establish a local preparedness plan through a number of peer circles and map out what resources are available and what is missing.
Step 4 will be for the associations to submit an application for micro support to make the purchases they have prioritized to ensure their basic needs in the event of a crisis.

We will collaborate with the safety coordinators in both municipalities. They are positive about us being able to offer something concrete like these micro supports that allow associations to make necessary purchases to strengthen their preparedness!
We will also collaborate with the Adult Education Association with study materials to develop local preparedness plans and see what unique needs exist in each community. They will also be able to provide information about courses on the theme of preparedness for those who want to further their education!

The project will run until the summer of 2026.
